Acquisition

The input of data into a computer system. In digital photography, acquisition refers to obtaining a scanned image from a scanner for image processing. The image is acquired through the use of an acquire module, such as a TWAIN module, which connects the software of the scanner with that of the computer and allows the digitized photograph to be transferred.
